What is Sorbitan Monostearate Made Out Of?

Sorbitan monostearate is produced by the esterification of sorbitol with stearic acid. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol that are commonly derived from corn and pototoes or the reduction of glucose. Stearic acid is highly available in nature. Stearic acid is found in both plants and animals, where it is more abundant in animal fat than in plant, vegetable fat. As Huana Chemistry considered the diverse consumer groups, we have chosen to use plant based stearic acid for the production of sorbitan monostearate. Therefore, our products are vegetarian and vegan friendly.
